Going to try to and put pics in order in which they happened!

"City Boy" running from jumpin' fish~~!

Sharks

circling!!

Big Daddy!!

Fresh sushi for lunch!! Little tuna heart was beating only minutes before!!
What a way for a city boy to end his day of fishing!!

Roatan will never be the same......

Ok. Well, how can I explain the absence from my blob?(sorry rex and patty!) Just too much damn fun, I guess!! And OMG.....who has time to write when you are laughing the live long day. And night!!

So........they arrived on Sunday around noon. We traveled by taxi to the marina and to board Blew Bayou. Took them on tour of marina and have cheeseburgers there and decided to take a short cruise to West End for the night. Dear Karessa, bless her heart, fell asleep in the salon about 4 pm and slept until the next morning!(overworked) We left her you know what onboard and headed to shore. Walked around and watched the sunset but the no-see-ums (translate=the bugs from hell....I now apologize to all of my yankee and west coast friends who went home from rio bonito with huge mosquito bites....never understood when they said they got swollen.....NOW I DO!! I have an allergic reaction which puts me out of action for a day after I get bit.....) and soon realized that the breezes had died down and we should go back to boat. Everyone pretty much crashed ...jet lag, bugs, alceehol, and the like!!
Sidenote: our taxi driver, Antoni who has driven us all over the island, was completely overwhelmed by rachel and karessa! duh. We're driving into the marina and rachel says, "Hey, Antoni.....let's do doughnuts....let's spin some rock!!!!" and then karessa says.........."Let's make an entrance!!" Needless to say......Antoni was laughing so hard and staring the whole time..........saying, "OH BOY!!" Highlarious.....

Next morning, we leave to hit Utila. Arrive around noon and the "kids", including C....hit the town for lunch at Fidi's and then to hang all afternoon at the beach. I stayed behind with
bug bites and allergy medicine which makes me snooze. Time on the tramp. Then back into town to do a tour. Chad and Charlie are loving this town. We hit all the hot spots. Jade Seahorse, which by now, I'm totally in love with and plan to do the whole camp in tile and marble! Cereally. Lobster dinner for all and with full belly's, we crazily hit the ice cream shop!
Back to boat to sit for awhile in total histeria laughing at my son and his wife and their friends!!

Monday morning we were going to go to the mainland but weather told us otherwise. So, we head back to Roatan, but on the way someone spotted a log. A piece of wood. Who would have known what this piece of wood would come to be?? FISHING HEAVEN!!! Cap'n said anytime there is a structure in the sea....you will find fish. So .... he turns this sob around faster than you can make a U-turn........and we go fishin'!! Immediately, both lines start zinging. Chad catches the first one. Mauhi-Mauhi. And then one by one...they all catch fish. Rachel gets a n-i-c-e tuna. YUM. (She got her first fish all the way to the boat but he puked up little bitty fish right on the boat and broke loose!) Then karessa reels in a HUGE daulphin.......but it breaks loose right at the boat. Cap'n had put a waist collar on her to reel him, reel him.....and she refused to take it off until she caught one! Which she did soon after.........more tuna! Then guess who came to visit us? Sharks. Yep.......lots of sharks, big ones... little ones.....right to the steps at the back of the boat!!! We were going crazy.......feeding them porkskins, bread, chum from the fish we had caught earlier...........it was a shark frenzy....!! (According to our resident fisherman, charlie, who was too sceered to hold the bucket with the live fish in it and said just loud enough for me to hear.....DON'T JUMP...I LIKE THE CITY! DON'T MOVE ANYMORE!! to the fish!) OMG....I almost peed in my pants on that one! Whew.........so after about 2 hrs, but charlie said it was ALL day.........we finally set the autopilot to get us back to Roatan. On the way, cap'n cleaned and filleted one of the tunas for us to have a nice sushi lunch with soy sauce and wasabi. Deee-lish! Man, oh man.........nuthin like having rachel and karessa bring home the bacon and the cap'n not cook it up in the pan!!!! Better than fillet mignon.

Spent the afternoon lounging on a beautiful white beach with little beach guys bringing us girls fruity drinks while the guys snorkeled. Waaaay too much work after a day of fishing!
Then back to the boat for a dinner of seared tuna, mango salsa, pasta and fried grits!
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.....so that's where I sit right now.....a full belly and a bellyful of laughter! Doesn't get much better than this!!
(and now down to the girl's room to watch some episodes of Sex and the City.............like I said.................^^^^^!!!!!

The babies!

Attack of the lobster!! The girls were diggin' in and Chad showed them how!!

Dinky ride!!

Back later to add more shark and fishing pics!!! Get ready, roy....shark bait! You would have DIED!!

A day in Honduras.....

....is really just like any day back home. Haircuts, pharmacy, school crossings, lunch, grocery store..... NOT!!

So, today was our errand day. Getting ready for kids to come tomorrow. Doing chores. AND GOING TO TOWN....!!! Now, I really need to explain this haircut adventure. Cap'n has been on the boat for 2 months. Granted, he got a haircut right before he left AND he is a sailor but really...it was time. Even the manager of the marina told him it was time. So, this am we get Antoni, our friendly taxi driver, to take us to get a haircut. At first, he says "I need to think about it first. Who could cut your hair...a gringo and all!" We get to the barberia and Antoni says "Can you cut the hair of a cowboy from Texas?" Barber says, "He didn't care if the cowboy was from Minnesota, New York or Texas...he could cut that hair!"
So he does. And fast. I took the pic of cap'n in the chair, turn around to get some outside shots and when I turn back around, ALL the cap'n's hair is gone! Shaved his neck with a raw razor blade. That'll be 5 bucks, senor!! I love it........took 10 yrs off the cap'n!! ummm...cap'n wasn't so sure at first, but I think he's ok now. And like the owner of the marina says, "when you get a haircut in Honduras, you sure don't have to get them as often!" Whew....quite an experience. Then to the pharmacia to pick up a few things.....next, to the hotbox for lunch. Pastalitas and lechon. Watched the school crossing guard put up his sign while the kids went across the street to have their lunch at the church. Stopped for a watermelon at the watermelon store! And finally, to the grocery store....and man, oh man do I ever love shopping in a foreign grocery store......again, whew!!

So see? errands are errands anywhere you go. But when you throw in the Hondurian spice, it sure is alot more fun!!

Oh and one more thing............Look out Bauer Hardware!!

Re-cap of our week with Roy & Jessica

Rested yesterday, cleaning today and grocery shopping tomorrow.....getting ready for our chillins' to roll in on Saturday for 8 days!! We are now at Barefoot Cay marina where all of our adventures begin!
Our week with our friends was great fun! They are "boat people" like we are so the week went so smoothly. Roy wanted rough seas and flying sails? He got it. Jessica wanted some white beaches and some chill time? She got it. Everyone just did their own thing when they wanted and how they wanted. They marvelled at West End about how they loved that kind of place....it's a dive town. Very laid back, pretty rural. Then, it was on to our day of exploring the Keys, which I've already told you about and back to Anthony's Key to anchor in a lovely lagoon. Great dinner at the Blue Bahia, where our new LSU friend sang the fight song for everyone! On to Turquois Bay Resort to anchor outside their area. They were gracious enough to let us lounge on their beautiful beach and enjoy their cerviche.....as well as have dinner with them on their 3rd anniversary celebration. And because of that celebration, this chick was down for the count the whole next day.....if ya catch my drift!! So, while I recovered, everyone else went snorkeling and over to Punta Gorda for lunch at the Sacrifice cafe. We had also dinghy'd around the beach areas here and found the huge starfish that I will show you a pic of.
Next day, we sail back over to West Bay and anchor right off of the beach there, which we had done a week or so ago and spent the night. But this day, the Hondurian policemen, in their lil boat, came out to tell us that we couldn't anchor at the beach. After some, ahem....'discussion' between them and our cap'n....we got two hours out of the deal. So, what do we do? Go ashore and have some monkey la-la's, of course!! (the equivalent to a bushwacker at rio bonito) We then head back down to West End for the night. Next morning, after a leisurely breakfast and walk thru town, we motor back to Barefoot Cay, with 3-6 ft swells, for the night, so our chilled and weary travelers could catch their plane out on Wednesday am.....which, I haven't heard from them yet; but as of yesterday, when they were supposed to fly out....their flight had been delayed so a machinest could be flown in to fix their plane before take-off. OUCH!
Sure hope they made it back last night.....

It was such a fun week with such great friends! And of course, as some of you know, it is my duty and honor to have our guests listen to Blue Bayou by Linda Rondstadt and Cruisin' by Jimmy Buffet on our last sail into the harbor.............to leave a memory of great times aboard our very own Blew Bayou!!

Drink it up..........This one's for you........
It's been a lovely cruise.
I'm sorry it's ended, ahhhh it's sad but its true
Honey.......it's been a lovely cruise.
These memories you're left with
may you always remember
these moments are shared by few.................
There's wind in our hair and theres water in our shoes, honey........it's been a lovely cruise.
Those harbor lights...ahhhhhhhhh, they're comin' into view...
we bid our farewells much too soon
So drink it up......................this one's for you, honey...........it's been a lovely cruise..
Yeah, baby..........it's been a lovely cruise!!!!! J. Buffet

Did lots of this ^^!!

and found this ^^!

And deciding to take them all home!!
Beach Time and 'dinky' time!

One more time...."how many lemps in a dollar?"

Saying goodbyes....and "See ya back in Uncertain!"

Tired lil sailors!

It is now Tuesday night and we've just finished a lovely farewell dinner with out guests...they fly out for home tomorrow. We've had very busy days and highlarious adventures....many to write about but it will have to wait until tomorrow. This lil sailor is going down for some shut-eye!!

BUT ..... before I go I will leave you with a smidgeon of a lobster tail.....er, make that tale!

Our friend, roy, wanted seafood when he arrived. Mostly lobster. Well, after about 4 days and nights of him having his lobster, he finished her off last night with the lobster of all time.....me thinks he won't want for lobster for quite a while!!

Lobster, crab and shrimp...The Big 3!!

The beginning, the middle and what the end of the meal looked like. He had completely covered all of us with shells, juice and meat ...........ate ever single piece of it and then licked his fingers and wiped all the garlic/butter from his face and gave me a great big ol' grin!!!!!(with lobster still in his mouth!!)

I have not laughed this hard in ages!!!

The Almost Not So Perfect Storm....according to me!

Man, oh man.........what a day! Our buddy, Roy, definitely got his money's worth today! He wanted to sail in rough seas?? Wish granted.
Cap'n decided we'd go check out the keys south? or maybe east? of Utila. Heh....my map skills at work once more. Anyway, when we began the day, the seas were quiet and there was no wind. We got to the area and it really looked neat. A small community that was going to great fun (notice I used the word 'was') to walk around and explore in. But a few clouds rolled in, making it hard to see the bottom or the rocks underneath us, so they just put the anchor out till we decided what to do or what the weather was going to do. As those of you who sail know.........the weather is another God that we respect......Meanwhile, the wind started blowing and it was obvious that the anchor needed to come up. But it wouldn't.
Try after try......and then the secondary anchor was pulled out and put in while the cap'n made a dive to look around. And I gotta say..he stayed down waaaaay too long as far as I was concerned. But then again, I'm just sitting in the back not saying ONE word...seriously. I knew better. He saw that the chain had wrapped itself around some coral reef and he freed it but had to come up. And it had caught on another piece of reef after he came up. So, he goes to steer the boat to the left, to the left, to the left, hoping it would unwind....which finally it did!!! He truly put his captain hat on for this one and made all of us onboard very proud! Meanwhile, the Perfect Storm clouds are brewing darker and closer.....so guess what he does? Throws out the sails, turns to our guests and says........."LET'S GO SAILING!!" Sheesh! And we did! He outwitted the storm and sailed right around it with us only getting a bit of rain. Swells were pretty high in my standards....heh....so Sophie and I go down to read. (which means take a nap till we're out of the bad stuff!!) Four hours later we are pulling into Anthony's Key to anchor for the night. And to a wonderful place for dinner! Exhausted and probably sore, the cap'n of Blew Bayou and his first mate ended their day with like I said before.....roy getting the sail he'd wanted with a grin on his face!
Oh....and at dinner, who do we run into? Why LSU fans, of course!! They heard we were from LA and told us they were from New Roads! HA! and the lady stood up and sang the LSU fight song for everyone and then told us a dirty joke............gotta love LSU fans and coonasses!! Small world, eh? Below are some pics from the last few days!

Some of the wonderful fish meals we're having!(for my foodie friends!)

Crazy coonass singing LSU fight song!

Pirates, Poodles........and

Well, the other p's were on the boat!!! Heh. (just for you rachel!)

Laughing. Lots and lots of laughing!
Our friends, Roy & Jessica arrived on Thursday. We had planned to take off on a 4 hr sail to Utila (geeze, that sounded like Gilligan, didn't it?!) right when they arrived. BUT.....thank you fog in Houston....their flight was delayed and our plans changed. Surprise, Surprise!! Also there was no wind, as in noneya, Thursday afternoon so we left the marina and headed West and around the point to set anchor at West End for the night. Scurried onto land where they were comepletely in heaven in that small diver's town. One dirt roat straight thru the middle of town, surrounded by dive shops, bars and restaurants. We stopped and bought some fruit for the boat out of the back of a truck. Pineapple, cantaloupe, bananas, peppers, garlic, tomatoes and cilantro.....about 130 Limpures. $6.50!!
On to Sundowners bar to wet some whistles and watch some divers!
Dinner at a place called Touchdown where we were thrilled to see our beloved LSU flag hanging with pride. Only to walk around the corner and see that nasty Hook em Horns flag flying.....but we ate there anyway!
Back to the boat and an early night for all!
This morning, the pirates went into town and got some fresh banana bread and baladeas for breakfast and we have now taken off for Utila. Beautiful day....still no wind.
Waters in the ocean are as smooth as Caddo Lake today......MY kinda sailing!!!!!!!
